On May 27th the brightest stars of the modern opera will participate in a gala concert on Palace Square accompanied by the symphony orchestra of the Mikhailovsky Opera Theatre and a magnificent light show with dancing.
Every year on May 27th Saint-Petersburg celebrates its City Day which traditionally ends with a great musical performance at the Palace Square.
The world famous opera stars will perform on the open-air stage for the guests of the celebration. The program includes classical compositions of the famous composers of the 18th and 19th centuries.
This year the stage will be designed in a chic ballroom style and will be erected next to the Winter Palace and the Hermitage. Ladies in lush dresses dancing under spot lights and actors performing theatre scenes will set the tone of the court carnival!
The list of participants is really impressive – Russian opera stars Anna Netrebko, Elina Garancha, Yusif Eyvazov, Ildar Abdrazakov, Maria Gulegina and Massimo Giordano will perform alongside with many other international stars. The modern stage technology, impressive lighting, hi-end sound, colorful costumes and stylish decoration as well as live music performed by the top-level symphony orchestra combine to create a show which will no doubt meet the expectations of even the most demanding audience.
Every year up to 200,000 people come to St. Petersburg to see this concert. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to see the stars of modern opera! Book a tour to the Hermitage museum, or a trip to one of the Royal suburbs, and enjoy the show after as the entry to Palace square is traditionally free of charge!
